As I mentioned Asteroids is a classic space shooter where you are battling bad guys to save the earth. Asteroids are hurled by them to destroy the earth along with aliens to invade and take over the earth. So who are they and why do they want to take over the earth?
Well these bad guys aren’t your typical aliens looking to take over the earth for its resources or enslave humans and/or use us as food. Nope these bad guys feel forgotten. At one time they were super star game characters and they were adored and loved. But now they are stuck in the abyss of sadness because of their irrelevance. They just want to feel like they did in their heyday and they feel like they still have something to offer.
They want the magic back and their minds have been clouded by a very powerful and unlikely boss from the 80’s who has convinced them to do whatever it takes to win back earth.
Together they have converted entire planets into manufacturing facilities to create their war machine. Their arsenal includes: 1) A variety of space ships each deadlier than the other. 2) Homing missiles that are deadly accurate and hard to destroy. 3) A variety of space mines that lurk silently in space and explode with great devastation when you approach them. 4) Alien invaders that are able to live and breath in space. 5) Deadly asteroids which the hurl towards the earth that destroy everything with in miles of their impact on earth. 6) Last but not least, UFOs that are all but impossible to destroy just but shooting that and who carry deadly laser beams that will cut anything in half. Finally, if that isn’t enough they bosses don’t mind getting in their ships and taking out anyone who is getting in the way of their plans.
